For me, peonies serve as the unofficial harbingers of summer. In varying shades of blush, pink, and cream their blooms line the driveway at my parent’s house. Their perfectly round pink buds hold so much promise like a secret they can’t wait to share with you. Almost like a prize for making it through the grey of winter. Here for a good time, not a long time; the blooms unfurl around Mother's Day in a rush of color and fragrance, and are gone as quickly as they arrived.
The Peony Season collection consists of six original acrylic paintings and loosely explores those fleeting weeks through layers of blush and cream petals. These works aiming to capture not just the flower itself, but the soft, ethereal feeling it leaves behind, and the promise it offers us each spring.
